WRECKAGE
(2024)
Wreckage: Breaking the Chain of Family Trauma is the story of my family's history of dealing with a confusing array of adverse experiences: sexual abuse, incarceration, divorce, and alcoholism. It’s a first-person narrative from my point of view as the youngest child, looking back from the vantage point of middle age. It depicts my family's struggles, the helpful and not-so-helpful coping methods we’ve all used, and the lasting impact of trauma on the human spirit.

With elegant, precise prose, G Marie English draws meaning from the betrayals and scars of a painful youth. Her long-silenced past is given voice through compelling imagery that is at once precise, mundane, and profound. These are stories of fragility and vulnerability, of strength and uncompromising honesty.

GMarie English has written about her life with humor, pathos, and some real self-awareness. In her stories of childhood and beyond, she’s both Everywoman and yet distinctly herself.

About GMarie English
I’ve been a writer my whole life, but it’s just been in the past few years that things have coalesced into book form. I write with honesty, insight, and humor, seeking to convey the meaning I’ve discovered in my life experiences. It's only after years of therapy, and the study of psychology and adult learning that I’ve been able to give voice to my unique perspective. I have a BA in English from Whittier College, an MA in Psychology from Pepperdine University, and an M.Ed. in Adult Learning from Arizona State University. In the spring and summer, I live on the beautiful Oregon coast with my husband Tim. In the fall and winter, we enjoy living in the picturesque Sonoran Desert of Phoenix.
